Saudi National Petrochemical Corporation recently announced that it has started production of a major petrochemical complex in Saudi Jubail. The project was built by Saudi Polymers, a Saudi Arabian petrochemical company (65% stake) and Arab Chevron Phillips (35% stake) joint venture company. The Arab Chevron Phillips is a wholly owned subsidiary of Chevron Phillips Chemicals. The construction of the petrochemical complex was completed at the end of last year.
The complex is designed to produce 1.165 million tons of ethylene, 430,000 tons of propylene, 1.1 million tons of high density polyethylene and low density polyethylene, 400,000 tons of polypropylene, 200,000 tons of polystyrene, and 100,000 tons of 1-hexene. .
