The National Bureau of Statistics released the March 2016 Industrial Producer Price Index (PPI) data for April 2016, showing that the PPI fell by 4.3% year-on-year. The PPI rose from lower to higher, up 0.5% from the previous month, and was the first increase since January 2014.
According to the analysis of the National Bureau of Statistics, the factory price of industrial producers nationwide in March has the following characteristics: First, the price increase of some industrial industries has expanded, with ferrous metal smelting and rolling processing, non-ferrous metal smelting and rolling processing prices rising by 4.9% and 2.3%, an increase of 4.4 and 2.2 percentage points over the previous month, respectively; second, some industrial sectors experienced a rebound in prices, among which oil and natural gas extraction, ferrous metal mining, chemical raw materials and chemical manufacturing prices fell from the previous month. This month rose by 9.9%, 3.6%, and 0.9% respectively. Third, the price of petroleum processing dropped by 0.2% month-on-month, and the decline slowed by 3.7 percentage points from the previous month.
In March, the ex-factory price of industrial producers fell by 4.3% year-on-year, a decrease of 0.6% from the previous month. In terms of different industries, the ex-factory prices of oil and natural gas extraction, petroleum processing, coal mining and washing, ferrous metal smelting and rolling processing, non-ferrous metal smelting and rolling processing, and chemical raw materials and chemical manufacturing decreased by 33.8%, 18.0% and 16.6 respectively year-on-year. %, 10.9%, 8.3% and 5.5%, collectively affecting the total level of ex-factory prices of industrial producers in the month fell by about 2.8 percentage points, accounting for about 65% of the total decline.
From January to March, the factory prices of industrial producers decreased by 4.8% year-on-year, and the purchase prices of industrial producers decreased by 5.8% year-on-year. Among them, the chemical raw materials and chemical products manufacturing prices fell by 5.9%.
