According to the British "Tire and Accessories" news, Michelin Group and Axens and the French Institute of Renewable Energy (IF-PEN) have launched a phytochemical research cooperation project to develop a bio-based butadiene (bio– The butadiene (butadiene) production process was introduced to the market for the manufacture of synthetic rubber and eventually produced tires with low environmental impact.
The cooperation project is called BioButterfly. In addition to developing innovative butadiene- based production processes, the three parties will also work together to lay the foundation for the future biosynthetic rubber industry in France. BioButterfly will receive 52 million euros in funding over the next eight years. This project has been part of the "Invest in the Future" program of the French Agency for Environment and Energy Management (ADEME).
According to the report, the study will focus on five key challenging topics: the economic competitiveness of producing bio-butadiene; reducing the impact on the environment, especially the carbon emissions throughout the entire production chain (compared with fossil fuels) Manufacture high-performance synthetic rubber and adapt the process to all uses of biobutadiene; reduce investment costs; prepare for the future biosynthetic rubber industry in France.
