An industry-leading U.S. medium- and heavy-duty truck manufacturer wants to expand its environmental program and has adopted a liquefied natural gas (LNG) fuel system developed by a Canadian clean fuel engine supplier. LNG is a safe, cost-effective, low-carbon and low-emission fuel that is suitable for use in "fresh air" vehicles and must use Danfoss pressure transmitters.
Powering the "fresh air" truck
The fresh air truck uses a modified diesel engine that uses diesel at start-up and can then switch to LNG. The engine was provided by a Vancouver company that recommended Danfoss pressure transmitters to Oregon's LNG pump manufacturers.
The LNG pump is a hydraulic pump, so the pressure of the hydraulic oil must be maintained at the correct level. To this end, Danfoss MBS2150 pressure transmitter monitors the oil pressure of the pump to ensure that the pump and the entire fuel supply system are always operating properly.
Due to the adoption of a clean fuel engine (rather than a standard diesel engine), fresh air trucks are increasingly welcomed by self-insured fleet operators, such as port container tractors. The world is increasingly focusing on various types of environmental protection solutions, and various regulations on emissions are becoming increasingly stringent. At the same time, there are more and more locations where the United States can add LNG fuel, and soon more long-haul truck companies and off-road equipment manufacturers will enjoy the benefits of low-emission engines.
However, the smooth operation of the LNG engine is by no means a Danfoss pressure transmitter. Danfoss temperature sensors, contactors and circuit breakers can also be used in LPG and CNG dispensers to ensure that they operate in even the harshest environments.
